An image of your design is transferred onto the surface of the metal. Your design is then etched into the brass using an acid-reaction process. The indentations are then filled with the enamel colors by hand. The finished product is similar to a soft enamel pin, however, the metal it is made on is a bit thinner and the ridges on the surface as not as pronounced as on a soft enamel pin. This is a great process when you need to save some money but would still like to have a similar look to a soft enamel pin!
